I am a minister in Chester in a church that overlooks the canal. After church on Sunday I would often walk along the towpath with my children and see a really bustling environment. Not only holiday makers and live-a-boards but also families feeding ducks, people fishing and even, one day, a boy dragging a magnet through the water looking for scrap (he ‘caught’ a bike while we watched!)
I hadn’t realised I could have a ministry there but I found out about Waterways Chaplaincy when I was browsing the Workplace Matters website. I gave Mark a call and within a few weeks I had met up with him and Debbie at a training day in Cheshire. The team have given me great training and I’m really looking forward to serving with them on the canal in Chester city centre.
