New Lead Waterways Chaplain – North Commissioned

Lead Waterways Chaplain Barbara Davis on her commissioning

Babs Davis was commissioned as Lead Waterways Chaplain- North during planning days held at Church Army offices in Sheffield on the 16th September. Babs has been a volunteer Waterways Chaplain for 6 1/2 years on the River Stort and the Kennet & Avon.

After the National Deputy Waterways Chaplain left to take up a Curacy, it was felt that it was time for developing the Chaplaincy further with appointing Lead Chaplains to the North and the South.

“Becoming Lead Chaplain for the Northern Region will change my life, despite already being deeply involved, and I hope I can be instrumental in helping the ministry flourish yet more. I love what I do and have some great colleagues to work alongside.”

National Senior Waterways Chaplain, the Revd Mark Chester (pictured with Barbara), is delighted by the appointment: “I have known Barbara to be an effective chaplain over a number of years and I believe she will bring a fresh and innovative approach to developing the Chaplaincy in the North of England.”
