Listen to Waterways Chaplains in Shropshire

The Shropshire Union or ‘Shroppie’ is a stunning part of our canal system. We have a few Waterways Chaplains on this stretch who walk the towpath helping those that need a listening ear, practical help or want to discuss things a little deeper.

Listen to this short interview from a couple of our Chaplains, Stephanie and Malcolm Grey-Smart.

Do you know someone who could do with a listening ear?

Give them our details and/or contact us through our website. We usually respond in less than 48 hours. The biggest areas that people usually need a listening ear are with physical and mental health, finance problems, relationships and a variety of other issues.

Are you a Christian and think this may be a ministry you would like to volunteer with?

The Christian ministry of a volunteer Waterways Chaplain is to be pastorally proactive and spiritually reactive in the boating community. We work to build up relationships and be part of the lives of all those we meet. Many value having  someone to listen and someone to talk issues through with to try to find a way forward.

Chaplains share in the good and bad times and are supportive and encouraging of all, regardless of religion, orientation or race. They support people of all faiths and none and are happy to discuss spiritual and practical matters if invited to do so. The biggest areas that people usually need a listening ear are with physical and mental health, finance problems, relationships and a variety of other issues including requests for prayer and wanting to just ask about deeper matters.
